Internationals Men Win National Title, Advance to World Soccer Open Championships
Orlando, FL - Monday, November 21, 2005

The Internationals Men have secured a spot in the Hyundai World Soccer Open Championships which will be hosted by Germany during the FIFA World Cup in July 2006. 128 amateur men’s soccer teams from around the country had gradually been whittled down to the best eight, one from each region. These eight teams competed in the National Finals held at the Disney Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida on November 19, 2005. At the end of the event, the Internationals were the last team standing and will represent the USA in July 2006.

The "Hyundai Cup World Soccer Open" is a five-on-five amateur soccer tournament in which local teams of men ages 18 and older have an opportunity to compete at an international. Local Round winners advanced to the National Finals. This year, preliminary Hyundai Cup matches were held in San Diego; Los Angeles; Denver; Cleveland, Ohio; Chicago; Washington DC; Miami, Florida; and Portland, Maine from July through September, 2005. The Internationals Men defeated F.C. Krajisnik 3-0 in the finals of the Cleveland Regional.

The tournament is played in support of Soccer for Hope, a nonprofit organization that uses soccer camps, clinics and walkathons to raise money for children facing life-threatening diseases. All the teams participating in the tournament will make a donation to Soccer for Hope.
