Presenting your 2008 Memorial Day Shoot-Out Girls U10 Champions...
Family First Sports Park - Erie, PA - Sunday, May 25, 2008

With over 250 teams expecting to converge on Family First Sports Park in Erie, PA, the order was pretty tall; play for two days among some of the area's best teams and come out on top.

Were we asking for too much? From the outside looking in anyone would think so, but for the coaches, staff and family who have watched this group of girls evolve into the machine they have become, hardly so. One by one, we systematically dessimated teams, from PFA Fury and Pittsburgh Strikers to MASA Moon Tigers and Northern Steel SC, the method of dispatch was unrelenting. Each and every game, high or low, short or long, shots continued to break the net until finally two teams were left standing in the final.

Super Nova 98 struck early with a goal, but undaunted, a long range set piece brought our girls level before the half. That kick to tie is perhaps the moment where the girls put their stamp on the match. It was in the second half where the Internationals puppetmasters controlled every movement like the strings of a marionette. After two more goals made it 3-1, the play culminated to a stopped penalty kick, thus brushing away all doubt of the final outcome.

With both GAASA and State League seasons winding to an end, this could be considered the decadent dessert to a great feast! Congratulations to the U10 International Girls for all their hard work and dedication, you truly stood out this weekend in Erie.
