Internationals U10 Girls dominate their GAASA division
Copley Road Soccer Complex - Akron, Ohio - Sunday, June 8, 2008

We do it to ourselves, you know? Sure, the Internationals U10 Girls had won the Memorial Day Shoot-Out in Erie, PA. Sure, the Internationals U10 Girls had dominated the State League and capitalized with a top class State Cup triumph. Sure, the Internationals U10 Girls were entering the GAASA Playoffs in the lead with only one loss in the Spring 2008 season. All the ingredients are here for one delicious recipe, but we constantly enter every game as if it is the defining one. Perhaps this mentality is what keeps us on edge and enables us to beat most any opponent.

Regardless of any accomplishments, the opening game of the GAASA playoffs for the U10 Internationals Girls was against the only team to have bested them all season, Green Thunder (2-3). Once the whistle blew to start the match, it could have been Portugal or Spain playing these girls and the outcome would have been the same. With the confidence and determination we have become accustomed to seeing all season, the U10 girls conquered every minute of the game. Once the dust settled, a 6-2 outcome in our favor meant we would be advancing to the championship game.

Meet Inner-City Tsunami. The last time these two teams met, it was an all out, belt-busting performance in which the U10s barely came away with a victory (8-7). Known for their speed and power, this team has never been one to be taken lightly. With Tsunami defeating Revere in their Semifinal game, the outcome would mean a rematch of the April 22 game, one that quite literally was determined by the last kicks. Again, our girls hit the field and holding true to their training, continually kept Tsunami on the back foot. With effective passing, amazing goals, and marvelous goalkeeping, the Internationals again outdid their challengers 4-1. This season certainly deserves an ESPN-like highlight reel, where are Chris Berman or Stuart Scott when you need them? One thing you can count on for the next game though, these girls will play as if it is a defining one…

Congratulations U10 Internationals Girls for one impressive season!
