About the ECNL

Why the ECNL?

The Internationals joined the ECNL as part of our continued natural progression of the club developmental process. The Internationals’ ECNL Program goal is to create the best developmental environment for aspiring female players to fulfill their potential. We believe that the ECNL provides the best model to help us achieve this goal and we are thrilled to offer this opportunity to our members!

The ECNL provides a competitive developmental structure that focuses on a more professional approach to training with less games but more meaningful games. The top college programs and USSF National Coaching staff have put their main focus on the clubs and players in the ECNL. Therefore, it was critical for the Internationals to be at the forefront of pursuing an ECNL franchise so that the elite players in Northern Ohio have the best opportunities to grow and develop for preparation at the highest levels. The Internationals is the ONLY ECNL franchise in the Northern Ohio market.

Advantages

  • Unified training environment
  • Consistent playing style
  • Player Movement (Age eligible)
  • Consistent Expectations
  • Developmental Continuity
  • Better training to games ratio
  • More competitive training environment
  • Clear pattern of competition structure that includes all areas from league play to tournaments to showcases
  • Increased quality and competitiveness of all games and all events
  • Provides the best and highest possible exposure to college coaches and US National Team staff

What about teams younger than U13?

As part of the ECNL, younger ISC teams (especially U12) will enjoy exclusive opportunities to play and participate in pre-ECNL events only offered for ECNL clubs. This begins to introduce younger players to the ECNL competition and programs in preparation for full ECNL competition. Younger ISC teams will also benefit from training elements coming from ECNL and the National Training Center.

What if you do not make an ECNL roster?

At the Internationals, once you are part of the family, we will find the right competitive environment for you! If you are not ready for ECNL competition, there are many other opportunities within our club structure for competitive play and exposure through the US Soccer National League, Midwest Regional League, Super Y League, State League, State Cup and other college showcase competitions.

The Internationals Development System consists of Multiple levels. The goal of the program is to ensure that each level is connected, thus giving our players ample opportunity to develop and advance within each level and throughout the system. All things being equal, we will always promote from within.
